Founded in 2007, Café Monte French Bakery and Bistro was created to be your “Escape from the Everyday.” Our goal… to create a casual-gourmet restaurant for the neighborhood, while utilizing only the freshest ingredients and French culinary traditions to deliver an exceptional experience to our guests. Since then we have become a favorite for visitors from near and far.
Classical training and world travel inspired the casual gourmet concept that we have today. Having lived and worked for years in Latin America, in places like Bolivia, Peru, and Mexico, and having had a chance to visit France, China, and other places in-between at an early age, my passion for international cooking and natural ingredients was developed over time. Our goal is to be a neighborhood home away from home, wherever you come from.

- Went for dinner and we ordered the French onion soup, kale salad, duck confit, and beef bourguignon. The main entrees were fantastic! The duck confit is cooked to perfection as it is tender and moist! The beef bourguignon is also amazing. Also tender and moist. Both dishes were full of flavor. Great portion size! Great atmosphere and fantastic service!
- My daughter and I LOVE having breakfast here before hitting the mall. She even requested for us to have breakfast here for her 18th birthday!!! The crab cake is my favorite, but I had the escargot last time (all yummy).
- The food was amazing! I recommend the spinach Florentine omelet with a croissant. We had a large party and the service was amazing. I know it’s hard to accommodate so many people in a busy restaurant our waitress Michaela was awesome!
- Cafe Monte has been one of my go-to spots for breakfast and lunch for years. My mother and I returned a couple of weeks ago. Her quiche was so flavorful. I typically opt for the lobster salad with avocado, but this time I ordered the crab salad. It was fresh and tasty, but I personally enjoy the lobster salad more. Also, their French onion soup is ah-mazing.
- Took my lovely wife here for dinner for date night. I’m not usually positively surprised, but I was. I had the short ribs and my wife had the mushroom and chicken crepes. Both were excellent. Jose was our server and was attentive and helpful with a great sense of humor.
- The food was delicious, and the service was amazing! Had great recommendations and will be back. I had the duck and it was juicy and flavorful. Others at our table had the short rib, chicken, and trout, and all of them loved their dishes.
- If you’re looking for a delightful culinary escape in Charlotte, look no further than Café Monte! On my recent visit, I had the pleasure of trying their shrimp and artichoke crepe, and let me tell you, this isn’t just a dish; it’s a ticket to flavor paradise! The creamy goodness enveloping the shrimp was so divine, I almost convinced myself I was tasting heaven (though I can’t confirm, as I’ve never been, but I imagine it’s pretty close!).
- ‘Just wow! What an incredible dining experience! We found this cafe from a travel blog and were not disappointed at all. We were seated right away and brought water for the table. The decor was French-themed, and I loved the French cafe music playing in the background. It really made you feel like you were in a Parisian cafe
